Hi Mike

Absolutely not! Ladders without handrails is what you got, and no kick boards. Come to think of it, you were lucky if you got a fire escape.

It's based to a certain extent on the fire escape on the curved goods warehouse at Clegg Street Goods Yard, Oldham.

just testing, you seemed to be coping with the Aylesbury deadline:eek::eek::eek: so I thought you needed a wake up call;););) best of luck with the show.

Last week, on our way from Basing to York via Bury, M62 and Stanley, Peter and I visited the Huddersfield Model Railway Club to talk to Ian (D1054) about hydraulics - I say "talk" when "chatter" is far more appropriate given the temperature. Now the discussions about Wezzies has nothing to do with Heyside at all, so there has to be another reason for this post.

I was admiring a 7mm model of a Fowler 2-6-4T when the builder introduced himself... with the statement that he had worked on those engines when a fireman at Huddersfield shed. Sensing a story I asked and was informed that he had indeed worked that class over the Oldham loop. Unfortunately he had no recollection of seeing one of Bullied's problems working through the area.

This might cause a wee bit more excitement - a sound-equipped Heljan Brush 2 (showing my age there:)) leaves the bay.

Richard

Only just caught up with this video. Really enjoyed it and very much looking forward to seeing the layout at Railex at the end of May.

Richard, please try to persuade the owner to post words and music on how the sound chip and speaker were fitted into the engine... in the Heljan 31 Mods thread .

regards, Graham

Having fitted sound to a number of 2mm diesels I would imagine that you could fit a sound chip and speaker almost anywhere with all the acres of space you have in 7mm!

Jerry, on his way back to the 2mm lounge before he gets duffed up in the big boys playground:)

Jerry, space might not be a problem... working out how to interface the decoder to the internal wiring of the model as supplied could be an interesting challenge (what with the various headcode and tail lights not forgetting the fan).

Hi Folks

We're all busy with paint brushes it seems to me at the moment. The gantry and signals on the lattice bridge are about a week from being finished, buildings are being titivated. Lots happening but little to photograph, though that will change soon I hope.

A bit like an intermission screening, to keep you happy while waiting for the main feature, Roger brought along his new black 5 - the 3rd so far for Heyside, though it may well be 4 running at Aylesbury, and here it is, a bit work stained, but relatively clean.

will it be finished in time for Risex?

Ian G

By 'it' do you mean the gantry? We are expecting it to be. The wiring is all in place and tested. Painting may be finished by Saturday which is a working party day, so it will be installed either then or the following Wednesday and commissioned sometime before the show. We regard it as a pretty key piece of the overall jigsaw.

If you mean the layout as a whole - when are they ever truly finished?!
