Hi Brian,

Yes their 28xx is still in production, but I am fairly certain you cannot build it into a 2884.

There were quite a few alterations between the two classes, the more noticeable parts being the larger cab, outside steam pipes, short safety valve bonnets and a fire iron casing on the left hand side ahead of the cab.

I had a word with the builder of the 38xx, and he advises that it is a Seven Models kit - one that built pretty well - and it does cater for the 38xx option in the kit. Described in their list as a GWR 2884 8F

Cheers

Hi Richard,

Thank you for taking the time to find out that info for me, I must say your friend has certainly managed to build a fine looking loco that really captures the look of the 2884.

And if I remember rightly Seven models are quite reasonable with there prices, another one on the shopping list .

Regards,

Martyn.

Hi

The minerals yard is having a bit of a makeover. It was always bare, but we have added some fencing and a gate to the private factory siding, and are starting to make it a bit more weedy and unkempt. Some way still to go, but it has changed the character of the yard, and broken it up visually.

Hi

Another work day, and progress on the factories - I shall take some photos after Saturday's session as there has been quite a bit going on.

In the mean time, Roger has completed his Rebuilt Patriot - a Heyside loco for exhibitions - and here it is, ex works before going to Tony Geary for light weathering.

It looks absolutely magnificent. I might yet persuade Roger that his work is worthy of a thread on WT.

Cheers

Hi Steph,
Yes this is the David Andrews kit and went together excellently. My only issue was with the expansion links but that was resolved yesterday and the loco ran near perfectly today, just needs running in. Thanks for the complement.

Roger,
That's very encouraging. I'd like to do a rebuilt Scot at some point and the DA kit is top of the list. In fact I've got a (just about) suitable tender kit hereabouts; long story...
