Some years ago, I worked regularly in a factory in Italy. Steve, one of our VPs, was kind enough to let me use his office when he was offsite. He was the champion for the “5S” program - “The 5S pillars, Sort (Seiri), Set in Order (Seiton), Shine (Seiso), Standardize (Seiketsu), and Sustain (Shitsuke), provide a methodology for organizing, cleaning, developing, and sustaining a productive work environment.”, according to the US EPA. He had every moveable item in his office in a marked location, much like Pete’s grandchild’s pram.

Steve had a habit of bringing an orange to work every day. He returned from a trip to find a neat white square on his desk, labelled “Steve’s Orange”. :D

Credit where it‘s due. He used it.

I did, actually.

I’ll see your bet and raise you.

I bet you don’t know what shape wombat droppings are.

and they talk.

mostly they just say “Ow!”

and as if all this nonsense isn’t daft enough, they stack them, as high as they can.
And also, from personal experience, they make great pets! But don't let one run into you when playing Chasey, you will be severely winded....

I heard that were one unfortunate enough to be hit by a car, it may well end up being the fulcrum on which the car became a see-saw. Getting the car off the poor wombat is reputed to be challenging. And the Wikipedia page provides more information than any of us need.

Today is a new day, apparently the feast day of St. John of Capestrano, Franciscan, Patron of the Military Chaplains, and St. Severin Boethius, Roman philosopher and Martyr.

Personally, I recall that it would be my parents' 70th wedding anniversary today. Try as I might, I can't get a joke out of that!

I'm not aware of any animals being celebrated today, but more than one website suggested it was International Mole day, referring to dear old Avogadro.
