Just for a laugh

10 of us went for a Christmas Dinner at a local Bowls club - the cracker jokes were predictably awful but from the ten crackers we did get a hat trick, three of them were "Why did the orange go to the doctor's?" "Because he wasn't peeling well".

No, me neither.

At least he delivered it to the right address which is more than happens round here. We are getting very good at identifying other people's front doors - that is, when they actually put a picture up. Parcels are known to 'go missing'. If the driver can't find a house, he sometimes just delivers it to a random address he can see.

Much the same here. We now have a "Peggs Lane Mafia" on WhatsApp and when any one of us is a) missing or b) receives an unidentified parcel (quite unlikely, I accept) we post details. Since that's been in force nothing has gone missing. Just slightly astray...

This does not only apply to Evri, I have to say - in fact our local driver is very good. But, of course, other flavours are available.

I had a card left by Royal Mail to say they had left a parcel in my safe place. I searched sheds, dustbins and every nook and cranny accessible from outside with no success. In desperation I checked their online tracking and found a photo I recognised as the inside of a neighbour's porch!

Where I live there are 3 of us in fairly close proximity with houses of the same number and same road name apart from the ending, so mine ends in 'Road', just across from me is a cul-de-sac with the same name ending in 'Drive' and just a few doors away round the corner is the third ending in 'Avenue'. We're quite regularly swapping misdirected mail or parcels left outside. I suppose its one way of getting to know your near neighbours and it does have its compensations as the lady round the corner baked me a chocolate cake for regularly bringing round her mail !

We regularly get mail delivered to number '1' in our postcode which is 1 Kimberly Villas, whereas we are 1 Old Station Yard. This is particularly prevalent if we have ordered something by phone. Where I guess they hear the 1 and then do a postcode look up...

Thankfully our regular postie is a rail enthusiast and we chat most days. So he knows where to redirect for us.

I used to have an aunt who lived in Streetway Road! At least her bungalow just had a name!
