Very nice - what is the basis for the loco - kit or scratchbuilt? As my father-in-law is called John Milton I feel obligated to build one at some point but I'm still in the dilema of kit building or scratch building with plenty of castings from Ragstone.

The Brit' is a Masterpiece Models, although RTR they still start out as a kit of parts, definitely not jelly moulds .
I knew the Daughter of the driver of 70003 'John Bunyan' who also became a driver on the ex L.T.& S.R.

I'd like to build a Brit', would be fun to scratch build, though I think if Dave Sharp (MOK) knocked a kit out, they'd go like hot cakes !:D

On Love Lane you'll see LT loco's and stock on their way out and back to carry out preliminary work for the impending fourth rail.

The best livery for a pannier tank :) - 1967 onwards as well since she is carrying the duty number plate holders on the smokebox door and bunker.

Don't forget the cab curtains which are (often seen in photos) tucked away towards the rear spectacle plate. They were used to keep the smoke out of the cab when working engineers trains in the inner circle tunnels.

If not already known LT lamps are available from Radley Models.

In the late '60s and early '70s I lived in a flat overlooking the LT lines between West Kensington and Barons Court and would see these locos often – usually on Sunday mornings – working to or from Lillie Bridge Depot. I confess I never saw an Afro-Caribbean crew though my observations were not exhaustive.

Come to think of it, the locos were not often that dirty, either. Or is that the rose tinted spectacles of distant memory?

I was going to put up a post to say that I don't remember the LT tank ever looking that dirty. Glad I didn't make a fool of myself. (Situation normal there, then.)
