More progress was achieved with the goods shed yesterday:

Having to design, draw, cut and/or 3d-print (and then correct any errors) all of the "kit" parts ourselves does mean that we're not getting to the finishing line quite as quickly as some others on this forum manage.
But that will all change once we get the S7 wheels running along the paper trackwork... ...once we've found the crayons and can colour it all in :D

There has certainly been a lot of discussion about this shed and how best to build it. Getting the little details right appeals to us. The prototype is the shed that was at Ongar though I think ours is a mirror image of the Ongar shed. One appealing feature is that the main roof has a very large skylight allowing good views of the inside so attention to the interior details has been as important as the exterior. The crane(s) and the louvres in the circular end vent holes were drawn by S-Club-7 and printed by BoyBlunder.

Fortunately one of the group would like the same shed for his own layout so it makes the development time feel more worthwhile.

During our Xmas break some of us managed to be volunteered with homework. Mine was to get the new approach crossovers to the fiddle yard working. Still need to check for and fix all the loose chairs, and to add some stretcher bars to stop the points of the switch blades rising above the stock rails.

Image below is a composite of 9 photos with some of the various perspective, parallax and other distortions removed.
Donfield Junction Baseboards v2.jpg
Donfield Junction signal box is deemed to manage the connections to the ex-GER branch going eastwards and the ex-LMS branch going westwards. In reality it enables trains from the storage loops (off-scene top-left) to access both the up and down lines. The Up (outer) road is 2462.66mm (approx 97") radius to the centreline (so says Templot). The outer turnouts are E14 and the inner D14 with a minimum radius of 2009mm (approx 79") through the crossovers.

The switches and LEDs on the temporary control panel plus the four servos (one per baseboard) are all controlled by a MERG CBUS CANMIO board with an added MIOAdd daughter board from RME. The functionality of this temporary panel will (eventually) be replaced by a new fiddle yard panel (or two); but we've got a goods yard to finish first! Servo mounts, sub-baseboard stretchers/sliders, and micro-switch mounts all designed and 3d printed in SNG by @Boyblunder

Now all packed in the car in preparation for re-erection and trials tomorrow.

Further discussions amongst the Love Lane crew have involved the idea of a bay road at the station, this was due to the fact that Love Lane in it's reconstructed guise is the terminus for the branch line supposedly about a mile further down the line heading North.
This will give more operating potential with the scenario being that the branch service would terminate in the up platform, passengers disembark, the loco then runs round, draws the stock across onto the down main and then propels the stock into the bay awaiting the connection from the Big Smoke before heading off back down the branch. Any minor goods traffic can be attached to the train as was done on the Framlingham branch.
The branch service will either be the push-pull and conventional loco hauled trains.

...and whilst the sun shone on the gardens an atmospheric shot was taken.

I looked at the photos posted above and came to the garden and thought "somebody is cheating" it a photo of the real thing. Then I spotted the edge of the baseboard so it's OK.

Is that your back garden? Very lifelike.

The gardens are the work of the late John Watson, see here John Watson

Sounds like a plan... Love Lane as a northward extension of the old East London Line from Shoreditch......

Two Q23 (G) driving cars, Q31 (K) and Q38 (P) trailing cars.
As it happens, 7mm versions of Q27 DM, Q31/35 Tlrs and possibly Q38 DM are currently being designed. The Q23s already exist of course. With the passing of Radley Models, marketing arrangements will be different.
