What I have learned us that it's good to give the DAS a wish with watered down PVA prior to painting. It toughens up the surface and stops the DAS absorbing so much paint.

That is a useful tip Chris, I haven't used DAS for any modelling purposes ( as yet ) but I assume you're using Vallejo or similar acrylics ?

p.s. nice to see that "foreign stuff" put to good use.

Wish / wash, doh!

Well........it happens. I just thought it was a particularly festive technique picked up whilst you were engaged in your pre-Christmas Elfing duties.

Top tip regarding sealing with pva by the way. Never occured to me. I just give the DAS a blast with the primer and had done with it.

I doubt the PVA is needed for flat DAS surfaces but the engraved DAS is rather susceptible to chipping. I found the stonework on the clay dries was too easily marked but tough as old boots after the PVA had been applied.

No1 son has tested positive for Covid this morning, so that's New Year's plans thwarted. The plus side is that I don't have to tidy the train room back into a bedroom and I'm now being encouraged to stay in here and not be sociable. :))

Those slightly arched windows, with a square frame in them look very Cornish.
My old house had slightly less pronounced arches to the front windows, and that was of a similar era to the model (well ya know what I mean!)
