JB's L1 had been running jerkily into the platform at WM all afternoon, and he couldn't explain why. At the end of the day, with just JB, Col, myself and Peter Hunt left, it became clear. Or indeed, clearance.  The cylinder was rubbing on some of the platform edging slabs. Someone jokingly suggested glueing some wet & dry to the cylinder until he realised the others were all nodding sagely into their beards...

So, with some w&d taped to the loco, JB ran it up and down a few dozen times and bingo...

That's it... My integrity as a serious modeller trashed..
Ah, but look at it another way: in standard 0 gauge, there would be too much clearance between wheel flange and rail to be able to do this, so yet another advert for finer standards... ;)

My "Better half" reckons to model the way we do we've all got a screw loose somewhere :)), but Liz means it as a compliment

My wife is a consultant psychiatrist.
I think we should, maybe, stop there...
(Thankfully she has very little time for Freudian theories, but what she thinks about some of the hobby's "characters" she has met is best not repeated in public.)

Freudian psychoanalysis refers to a specific type of treatment in which the "analysand" (analytic patient) verbalizes thoughts, including free associations, fantasies, and dreams, from which the analyst induces the unconscious conflicts causing the patient's symptoms and character problems, and interprets them for the patient to create insight for resolution of the problems................

Think that just about sums up S7 and most of us :))

Or just makes it up as they go along, as long as it fits within an untestable theory...
(But then again, Freud's theory would say that, wouldn't it...)*

Never trust a man who loves his mother that much.

*For those who don't know, when faced with some of the tenets of his theories, Freud says that you will either (a) accept the theory, proving it is right; or (b) reject the theory as you are not prepared to face up to the truth, proving the theory to be, er, right. Heads he wins, tails you lose... ...not testable scientifically, falls down at the first hurdle for the application of logic, and also fails to stand up to literary criticism.
(Most people are simply grateful to have the best part of an hour a week where someone actually listens to them, which is why the "therapy" usually works...)

Now, if it was more accurately stated as, "Therapist half-listens to patient and then says what he intended to say all along, also known as 'Talking b******s'," then I really do think it would be an accurate description or railway modellers. Time for one of these:

What a lovely display of engines  Just got my news letter through and have managed to borrow a lap top so that I can get on and post. My computer gave up the ghost about a week ago and I've been stuck without it. Also I ended up missing the August monthly meeting as we went away with the outlaws :shit: However I'm penciled in for the third wednesday in september so i'll be done soon to get my hands dirty  :)) :)) Hope all is well at WMHQ,

Best regards Mick

Hey Mick, thought you might be caught up with family mate, gotta be done, new baby and all  As you can see and read in the news letter it's mainly been ballasting and track cleaning.
The ballasting has been in the charge of Steve and John who's system has produced excellent results
I've also pencilled in the third Wednesday mate, so hope to catch up with you. Are you going to Telford?

As you guessed mate, i've been really short of time these past few weeks but at least we've got around to see the family and sorted to some jobs out at home so the wife's happy  :)) :)). The progress on the p-way looks grand, things are really coming together, fingures crossed i'll see you on the third wednesday for a brew, some ballasting and hopefully a test run of the G5  :))
