Myself and the Colonel shall be attending Warley on the Sat so to anyone else going please say hello when you see us. We'll be dressed in blue to make identification easier, or just follow the sounds of the Colonel's foghorn voice instead :p

Mark

PS We already live this side of the country and I didn't want to start a seperate Warley thread to avoid the Flying Squad screeching in, apologies :D

George and I are motoring up on Sunday from Somersetcestershire, fallen trees and surface water permitting.

(I did travel there and back in my old series three "MAD" once)

I printed off that helpful PDF that "Flying Pig" put up on Rmweb and have since been underlining things and people I want to see in best trainspotter style:))

I was going to start a "Not at Warley" Thread, for those of us who aren't going, for whatever reasons...:p

This might as well become the 'proper' "Warley" thread, anyway, so have a Good 'un all who do go; don't get squashed, and post away here reports and piccys....

Just got back. absolute chaos again as always especially the ticket selling arrangements. Once inside the usual broad spectrum of layouts which were wide and varied. Usual rip-off prices for food and drink and apart from the things I'd arranged to buy from other GoG members the one surprising thing from today was dapols announcements for their next batch of 7mm RTR wagons. In the pipeline are HAA, HEA and VEA wagons. The HAA and HEA will have about 4/5 subtypes to each one i.e. partial/full canopies, rivetted/non-rivetted, colour schemes, vac/air brake, in fact too much to mention Mr Dapol Dave has certainly got his eye on cracking the 7mm RTR wagon market and the Colonel is as we speak coppering up to see if he has enough for 32 HAA wagons :p The RRP for HAA's is £70, HEA's will be £65 and VEA's £60.

As for Heljan I did take some pics of the 31, 40 and 52 development models so will try to upload later.

Don't get your hopes up though as they were in a glass display case on the bottom shelves. Bit of a strange place to display them if you ask me especially as you'd want to be giving maximum exposure

Well rather than start a new Warley thread I'll just upload my photos here if that's all right?.

Advanced apologies if they're a little big for some folks.

I'll start with what's new

Existing JLTRT sorry for poor focal lengths on some of these shots, pretty dark in there in places.

Some finished 7mm locos on a depot layout, actually two layouts the names of which I cannot remember, or recall even seeing!.

A huge layout, might be 3mm or 4mm, it was that big.
IMG_5696a.JPG

Another huge (high) oo-9 layout, very popular this one.

A very nice 5" gauge King, may even be 7 ¼"?

Sorry for some blurries and short focal lengths, being bumped around in low light tends to not be the ideal scenario for low light photography :(.

Enjoy

Rob, your welcome, I think the Western looks half decent IMHO but I'm no Western anorak and to be fair whilst it may or may not be cheaper than the JLTRT I do prefer to model my model trains and will willingly pay more for the fun of building it so to speak. The class 40 looked pretty respectable as well but again I'd probably go JLTRT on that subject matter too.

No your right, the cab screens are not the right shape, even a LMR Luddite like me can see that :).

Unless is just the angle of the shot on the JLTRT, they are both wrong in terms of the front window shape aren't they? The real one has a flat across the top of the windows at the centre, rather than what looks to be a smooth curve displayed by the JLTRT. The Heljan has too much of a flat across the top of the windows.

Mind you, they are both better than I could scratchbuild so I should get back in my box really

Cheers for posting photos though Mick, good to get an idea of what was at the show

The JLTRT does have the 'flat bit', the Heljan looks more disappointing every time i see it.
