The toilet facilities back then might well have been basic and functional but I bet they were of a much higher hygiene standard then today with a strong smell of disinfectant

Some people can't be left alone for two minutes....:p

The prospect of adding slates to a four sided roof and all the lead flashing was enough to stir me into action today. The roof was rebuilt to a simple form probably more appropriate for a simple toilet block building....

Slates will hide any blemishes...

I think your latest 'kit bashing' exercise has produced a more convincing, WC for a backwater like Llanfair Road. Once those slates go on and you have done your usual painting and weathering job it will blend in with your other buildings nicely.

This 'slow modeling' is giving my ideas time to develop. I decided the Ladies toilet can stay where it is at the back of the tea room and the toilet block will be just for gentlemen with two cubicles and a urinol. Taking up less space, it can be set back a bit from the main building...

Ready for the sprayshop as are all the other components parts that go on later. Chimney pegs into holes and can be painted separately...

Removable nameboard needs painting and a frame fitting. William Wroe was my wife's father, a lovely man..

Yet another lovely building Larry, naming the coal merchant after you father-in-law is a nice touch.

I'm looking forward to seeing all your buildings in situ on Llanfair Road, perhaps the current mild weather will tempt you out to your shed for a planning exercise?

All the best for Christmas and the New Year,

All the best for Christmas and The New Year Geoff. All the buildings know where they're going because it was well-rehearsed in '00'. Mild weather or not, I do nothing in the shed from November to March. I tend to run a regimented regime that ensures I eat well and layouts are built and ripped up at the appropriate times.....:p:p:p

Busy with "Christmas", but I finished the roof-mounted nameboard if nothing else....

WEB Coal hut 10B.jpg

The nameboard was sprayed with car paint and left to harden before brushing on PPC White enamel and wiping off the surplus. The surround was glued on afterwards with Evostick Impact the picked out with with PPC GWR Light Stone...

I found time to weather the whole building this afternoon. White mortar was tested on a small section, but it bleached the bricks .... as usual. I never learn! So it was quickly followed by using Precision 'Dirty Black' diluted to taste with turps substitute. I can't go any further tonight until it has been matt varnished

Extra bricks picked out wit PPC Light Brick red and GWR Dark Stone, although they dont show up clearly on the photos.....

Door handle required. Must remember to order some from Intentio...

Now it is finished, I realise it is the ideal building (minus chimney & roof board) for use as a fully enclosed Gents toilet same as at Carrog. So that's another job for the New Year.

Intentio coal bunker now, the perfect xmas filler when spare time is scarce haha. One plank gone missing at this end.....

WEB Coal bunker 2.jpg

Bags of distressing called for with shovel marks made by constant stabbing with a screwdriver. Note the base of one vertical support post is rotten at the base. The horizontal score was made by one of the coal lorries (!).....

I inadvertently posted this on Geoffs Bleddfa Road earlier. I'm sober now ....

The toilet block or hut as it is now seeing as a further 40mm was removed from the length. Windows apertures have been bricked up to support higher frames as per suggestions from Farmer Rowland@Northstar, an in-joke between him and me. Metric size size bricks ha ha....

I admit to having been confused…

I do like the “bricked up” effect, I guess you’ll vary the colour of the newer bricks?

on the cubicle topic, my late pal Ken Stansfield moulded toilet pans from Milliput for his Swanage station building. I guess the 3D printer would be the obvious means of so doing if one were so inclined, but I have so far resisted the temptation!

Hasn't our good friend Peter Insole carved these from the solid for his own (and our) delectation already? Can't find the post now but it was a while ago.

Brian, here's Peter's post. A wonderful piece of work altogether.

Andy Duncan offers us (7mm modellers) a short cut with his whitemetal castings :

Neat as the castings are, would they be seen behind frosted glass.....? I built the two lav doors because they would be seen through the open entrance door. I'm painting the building at the moment, but because its all about space and appearance, there are several ideas on my mind as regards a 'Gents'.
