I can understand the frustration Larry is having with 4mm scale, having built up a small collection of 7mm locos and stock.

For me there is something about the mass of 7mm locos (especially with my whitemetal locos) that the 4mm models cannot replicate

I think 7mm modelers are better off with track than their 4mm counterparts. RTR is not perfect, but so much better looking. But it depends what part of the hobby interests you.

Good morning Larry,

Having acquired the Rapido 16xx from you, subject to posting, I was wondering if you would be also interested in selling some of the layout structures please?

In particular, the signal box, water tank and goods shed?

No problem if not.

Cheers, Nigel.

This really is not a conversation for the forum. Please use a PM.

Thanks

The goods shed was too big, so I worked out how much could be removed from the width without it looking too obvious. 10mm out of the doorway plus 15mm out of the end wall should do the trick, so I set too on yet another kit....

I always had a preference for a blank wall...

Quite a saving to allow the signalman a reasonable view down the line.....

Still no room for a lorry behind the shed....It's all kidology! I'll complete the shed now.....

With being mainly a desk modeller, the layout is coming on very slowly. Lack of space for a wide baseboard has restricted things a bit, but a small gap behind the primer-painted goods shed looks better than that structure pushed up against the backscene...

Pieces of timber and a coach have helped me to visualise things and determine the run-round length. I'm leaving space beyond the crossover for a small tender loco.....

Painting complete, except I forgot to paint the office bargeboards! A multitude of GWR Light and Dark Stone's can be found in colour albums covering BR days. I mixed one of the bleached versions.

I had hoped that changing to 7mm might enliven my lack of interest. It didn't, so I have had to force myself to complete this building. No track was laid and the baseboard remains virgin land. The next move is Western Thunder Sales....

Dark stone frame around white window sashes. The BR spec replaced the colours with cream and brown
