I've always wanted to get a layout in a magazine and I always thought it would be Ranelagh Bridge, so Canton happened by accident. Needless to say I'm over the moon and to see a double page spread of a layout I built is quite satisfying & again it shows what can be achieved in a small space.

So again that's it for this project and back on with the next one. I'm collecting the signals for Old Oak Approaches at Telford and hopefully get a time frame on the laser cut wall and not forgetting some bits for Ranelagh Bridge.image.jpg

I've been away in west Wales this week, so I was quite surprised to find a letter from Precision Labels when I got back, they had seen canton in Model Rail magazine and sent me some of there reporting numbers to try.
They are very finely printed, I will cut them out and mount them on some plasticard and make up a few more reporting panels.
So a big thank you to Precision Labels.

Ballasting, a job a lot of people hate, I on the other hand quite enjoy it. First spread the ballast out and tap the boards and rail heads with a hammer, this will compact all the ballast down nicely. I then using a 4" on this occasion but usually 2" paint brush tidy the edges up. Then a quick mist if water from my very expensive spray gun(. Thanks wifey ) then apply the PVA water mixture ( don't forget the little drop of washing up liquid ) until it runs out slightly either side of the ballast. Then leave to dry and reapply if nessasary.
There you go not to bad after all.

Brown paint arrived so weathering has commenced. I've been following colour pictures and their always seems to be a defined line were very dirty ballast gives way to clean, the centre of the track has been given a spray of JLTRT track dirt. The spray is great it has a directional nozzle so I could do a thin line between the rails without masking anything. Great stuff
