Such is the quality of the layout and photo, that your eyes aren't drawn to the wall, door etc.:bowdown:
Interesting point. When I finally get something approaching a diorama built I will buck the trend and go without any attempt at a backscene.
Obviously Heyside is too big for one anyway, but it does prove that if the layout has enough interest then the eye/mind doesnt notice the odd distraction and certainly not magnolia walls

Fantastic shot under the bridge, a layout I'm planning is based on a curve with pointwork on and if it's half as good as this i'll be happy. Great Job

There is such a sense of space in that last picture that it's easy to forget it's O Scale... insomuch as portable* O Scale layouts don't usually capture it so well...

* Or should that be "Transportable".... :D

I spotted some recent Heyside photos in a track thread "over there" yesterday.... still cannot see the join behind the signal box. Go on Richard, post a pikkie with the join drawn in so we can see just how well it has been hiddne.

best wishes, Graham

I can...:p but only just... the lorry is sitting on it, and it has an angle "<" in it visible just under the Signal Box end wall and steps.
Maybe I'm just used to looking at roads a lot..... ;)

Hi Graham

Here you are then......

Branch Throat 3.jpg

Jordan is correct in his summation. That oblique turnout diverging road was an absolute s*d to get 100% reliable, but it now is.

There won't be many trains today apart from the DMU shuttle, I think I'll go home for a nice cup of tea by the fire, maybe Dr Who or Fireball XL5 will be on the telly!

Wonderful!

Great sense of distance and the yard seen through the bridge supports is a very pleasing "picture" in its own right - it's a real place!

Hi

I am aware that the lack of a proper track plan is an omission. but no-one in the group seems to have the skills to produce a decent one for publication.

We've moved on a bit since that plan was drawn, as we have a run-round in the yard, a little loco stabling point (not yet developed) and 3 roads in the minerals yard, all on the right-hand side above the bay.

The following 100% grab should make this a little clearer,

New to this forum. Every time I get a bit disheartened about my own modelling abilities I seek out Heyside and it never fails to enthuse.

Cheers

Thank you Richard, so far the only picture in which I can see the join is the pikkie with the Jocko. A damn good job on the join, well done.
