Hi

I've had time to sort out some more photos from yesterday - another lococentric posting I'm afraid.

Both of Roger's Black 5s together

4 more locos should be added to the roster in the next month, C14, crab, ex MR 1F, L&Y saddle tank.

Cheers

I won't be going now either as it clashes with the Lincoln MRS show and I've been roped in by dennis-rs to operate his Lincoln layout. That'll teach me to be invaluable :p

Hi

We're working very hard on the warehouse end of the layout. 2 sides - the front and warehouse end are visible at Aylesbury, and this end was less developed than the rest. It's coming on in leaps and bounds, and we have recently planted and worked round a large period advertising hoarding.

The hoarding is Tim's work .

That is nice and tidy... in an approving sense  .

Which advertising company "owned" that space? (I ask because I was expecting to see the relevant name on either the top or the bottom frame).

Hi

I'm processing a few more photos taken today.

This shows the yard crane (Skytrex/Tim) and the setts (me/Roger) pressed/carved from DAS clay stretching on and on and on. That was a labour of love.

and from the other direction...

P1010375a.jpg

The milk tankers wouldn't be there in normal circumstances, they were shunted there for safety when we split the boards.

And a close up....

P1010374b.JPG

The recesses in the longitudinal setts are for etched drain covers. The setts just need a final paint and weather, perhaps a few puddles and green tufts to bring to life.

Very nice Richard. The setts look amazing you have made an excellent job.

The hoarding looks fantastic too. I hope i get the chance to see them in the flesh again;).

Back up the other end....

The initial scene behind the platform curve at the front of the layout was dated. The walling was painted black, the grass was a mat with some flock on. I managed to find a detail of the original on a larger photo....I didn't like the steps, the path went no-where and there were no railings.

Heyside Layout 065a.jpg

It's just a small section, but it is prominent, so it was given a rework....

I'm really pleased with how we have managed to match the old and the new. Incidentally, I had the fencing etched for me, and it is now marketed by Hobby Holidays.

That looks excellent Richard
Doesn't it just??

I always find details like old advertisements fascinating, as they can really help 'date' a layout - plus of course often there's the "wow, I remember that!" moment too....

Looks Superb Richard:bowdown:, i could almost see myself standing by the "lupins" doing some spotting. But there wouldnt be many , if any, hydraulics so my spotting would take me further south.........and west;):))

But nevertheless stunning modelling:bowdown:
