Railex is only two weeks away! have you noticed both MRJ and Railway Modeller have used photos of Heyside to go with their show previews even though I send them photos of the other layout coming.
David

Hi David

I saw the use of Heyside in the show previews, but I hadn't realised that the mags had selected Heyside photos in preference to others. Nice to know, thanks. I'm really looking forward to the show now, time has hurtled by of late.

Yes - just kidding about the food - we prefer to eat it! We are really looking forward to the show, it is an honour to be invited and I'm sure we will entertain and inspire. There will be a lot of people to talk to I expect!

Hang on, just the two layouts coming? I thought there were 16 or more?
Dave

Yes there are 16 layouts this year we normally have twenty plus but because four layouts are so large I have had problems fitting everything in, I have also had to drop the demos this year, but I do think we have a strong line up.

Yeah, done my bit now:)

I have just spent a happy hour weathering the dolls. I've just used enamel washes as I wanted to bring out the grain of the wood - which an airbrush wouldn't. Using wood for the dolls in the first place made this task a joy. Great fun.

Just a blow-over of the bridge itself now.

Wow!. The signals are just wonderful. They certainly put my clunky efforts to shame!
Looking forward to Aylesbury (providing the roster clerk can cover my 1400-2200 shift. Anyone fancy working a rest day at Chester PSB?)

Hi Jon

Thanks for the compliment, but I can't accept that it puts your efforts to shame. Your signals, and the way you showed step by step what you did, were one of my inspirations, and instrumental in me believing I could build signals. The gantry and footbridge signals are the only signals I have ever built in any scale, and it is I who owe you thanks.

Cheers

I concur - Jon - I used your thread as reference material. Everyone will be glad to know as of yesterdays effort - all of the signals ( apart from a couple of hidden shunt signals they sprung on me! ) now work. Hurrah!

Fantastic! Really looking forward to seeing this at Aylesbury.

Blimey, I've not seen E167449 for nearly 10 years, but I'd recognise it anywhere. It was one of a handful of wagons which, as part of a short-lived experiment, I scored wood grain on to while trying to hone my weathering style. In retrospect the scored grain was a little over-cooked, but served as a good leaning process.

Edit: Found a photo and the exif data on the original says Sept. 2005 which must be when I took the shot to put it on ebay. I was still wrestling with my DSLR back then too!

Hi Adrian

I've been posing the wagon in a few photos on and off to see how long it would take you to spot it.:) It is distinctive.

I have 4 of your wagons and 2 coaches - the LNER sub and Sidelines Thompson off your site. Very nice they are too:thumbs:

I'll have to go back and scour earlier posts - I've not been around much for the last few weeks so lots of catching up to do. I knew you had the coaches, but didn't know you had four wagons too. I feel very honoured that they're pottering around on such a marvellous layout.

Must remember the limp cheese and tomato sandwiches, bottle of Tizer and half-melted bar of Fry's mint chocolate for the full-on trainspotter experience next weekend...:D

Do not forget the Lyons Applie Pie (in the cardboard box). You can leave the duffle bag at the door...

Hi

The setts have now been weathered, and are no longer a horrible monotone. There's much more to do, but that is for after Aylesbury. The drain covers are in place too.

We have a practice running session tonight, all signals and shunting. We have decided to have a dedicated signalman, rather than each operator setting their own route, so all the drivers will have to behave. I have a few hundred spad forms printed off.

Cheers

Richard
