Great pictures Richard, I particularly like the lanky tank and the blood and custard coach at the front of the formation. Looking forward to seeing more,

If it wasn't for seeing the front of the baseboard I would have been wondering how rich the photographer was to have colour film in the 50's:thumbs:

That sounds like volunteering to produce a walled face with top stones for the benefit of future photographers ;) .

Food for thought in that comment Graham. With the running lines so close to the front of the layout, it's difficult to get much of the train in without the baseboard front interfering - and I would find a succession of close-up loco front 3/4 rather boring after a while.

Just lovely :)
An idea for the melting pot - how about a lightweight shelf / mini baseboard extension with the scenics of your choice on it to hide the edge of the baseboards for photographs (either free standing or something that could be clipped to the fascia). You could then move it up and down the front as required.

Hi

It now looks as though Heyside won't be going out for a couple of years, so we are taking the opportunity to pull the buildings apart and superdetail them. This is phase 2 of the development. I think phase 1 - the baseboards, electrics, trackwork, signalling etc is pretty much complete - so we can move on.

We started by pulling apart the raised buildings above the high wall behind the station. Apart from detailing, they were only half-relief buildings and looked decidedly odd from some angles, as well as making some photography difficult. We wanted to keep the facade, and build the new stuff around what was there. It won't change the general look of Heyside, but it will be much better.

These are the buildings currently being rebuilt - from very early photos of the original Heyside.

And here is the current state of affairs:

We managed to get the pub and houses off in one piece, but the factory is having to be worked on in situ. We were able to get the back off the houses and pub, so we can get to the interiors to detail selected rooms. I can now therefore invite various victims honoured modellers to contribute a bedroom/office/sitting room/shop interior. So, if you want to contribute a part of Heyside let me know. Jordan, I haven't forgotten:).

Finally, Allan wanted a record picture of his ex MR 0-4-4 and coaches, and he took this, among others on Wednesday
