Ha, that was a first for Heyside. There might be a bit of G1 OHLE going in outside for my E94
Joking aside, I think that is a glorious livery for the electrics. The pantos only just cleared the gantry. In fact it was so close we put some plastic card through the workings so they couldn't possible move up at all.
I've just finished spraying 7 mk 1 roofs, now to reassemble and weather. Nothing like an exhibition to focus the mind!

Hello Cliff,
From what I was told by the owner (first time I had seen it) it's based on an Easy Build 3 car 116 kit. However, he said that the underframes were somewhat generic, and he had rebuilt them to correspond more accurately to prototype and that he had replaced all the seating. Described as not an easy build.

I am the owner! It's a class 116 based on the Easy Build kit as Richard says. ( see Easy Build gallery or Cleobury Road 2 You tube for further pics) It's an early Tyseley 116 as introduced without head code but with First Class. The Easy Build model is quite challenging and if I was building another one would change a few things from the off. Importantly the trailer car shown in the instructions is a 108 ( I think) which is quite different( one heater and transverse vacuum reservoir etc) I also changed the seats from the bus type supplied to Tower Models Seats which are nearer the prototype. Seat moquette was researched and produced in Powepoint on transfer material. Most prototype photographs show all droplight windows open except driver and First Class! I just wish someone would produce a class 120 ( although Westdale do do a 119 which is same except for cabs and roof vents!)

Hi,
Clive has been working overtime on the chassis of the Stanier 2-6-2 and it was passed out yesterday for rostering on the local or pick up freight.
We have also weighted and 'Dinghammed' about 20 wagons over the last few weeks, giving us 30 or so with automatic couplings. Clive has checked them all for height and consistency, and indeed, we had near 100% reliability during the last running session. This means the yard can be quite busy at times.

Winter has set in, so it is time to dust off the Heyside thread. We shall resume work in earnest next Wednesday, and I shall be out and about with my camera taking pictures for MRJ. I'm not going to post the pictures I am providing to them, but there are some nice ones that hit the reject pile that you might find of interest.

These are fabulous pictures Richard. As is well known I'm a great advocate of 2mm modelling and it's ability to place the railway in the landscape. I'm a huge admirer of 7mm modelling and fully acknowledge the quality and skill involved but too often, for me, I find it cold, loco centric and lacking in atmosphere.
That said, every now and again a 7mm layout comes along that really puts the railway in context and this is most definitely one - it nails the grimy, almost claustrophobic feel of it's subject and oozes atmosphere. If these pictures are the rejects I am very much looking forward to those accepted for MRJ. Great stuff.

I'm being very critical of the photos I take. When Heyside appeared in BRM, although Andy York took some super photos, and although the quality of the group's locos is high, I felt the article came out too loco centric, and I was a little disappointed, because I feel there is much more to Heyside than just the locos. In fact, 2 of the best photos I feel I have taken have no stock in at all!
