kleptomania

I work in a charity shop. Last week we lost three coats and two pairs of shoes, all in one day. Retail is the business where I learnt the word "kleptomaniac", though I fear last week's visitors were pros. Chin up and remember the real kleptomaniacs can't help it.

I am not sure if the term kleptomaniac applies or whether he was just a hoarder of things. I worked with a guy in Wakefield whose house was that full of junk that collected that he was in bed one night when his first floor collapsed into the ground floor with him still in bed. - He lived in a small terraced cottage.

It made all the local papers at the time and when they showed photos of the contents of the the house there were traffic cones, tyres and even an medical IV complete with tubes etc. The stranger thing was that with all this stuff in the house, you might imagine that he was unkempt and scruffy but he wasn't he was always very clean and smartly turned out in a three piece suit, shirt and tie. This is what made it such a shock when it hit the news

I’m not much given to agreeing with “personalities” but I wholly subscribe to Richard Branson’s well publicised dislike of ties.

I wore one for a job interview in 2007, and for my Dad’s funeral in 2015, but otherwise, probably not since 2002. Likewise the suits that went with them, indeed, I have no idea why they’re still in the wardrobe.

There would be room for more models….
