Shielding the service wiring is known to help the jitter, but I suspect Chris has a different problem in this case. If he were not miles away, I would be keen to attach an oscilloscope to his layout!

Yesterday was quite an intense modelling day, shortened by domestics such as cutting the lawns and cleaning out the car (which has been used as a works van for a while). Lots of little jobs ticked off...

The cassettes had their sides added.

In doing this I realised that I'd obviously got bored making the long ones as I was two short. So back out into the garage...

I'll be finishing those off this morning!

Another job I managed to squeeze in was knocking back the factory finish on some of the stock. I didn't have time to do a proper weathering job and didn't want to spoil the models trying, so they got a quick dusting of weathering powders. The powder can always be removed later.

So it's just the 5 locos that will be going to the first show. There were a few others I'd planned to take but the manufacturers funny ideas about positioning and height of NEM sockets put pay to that. 5 will do, even if two of them are panniers.

Lots of jobs didn't get done including: fitting the signal box sliding windows; making and fitting the signal box door; making and fitting the ground frame; installing the point rodding (which went backwards as I actually filled in some holes I'd dug for the stools); properly detailing up the locos including adding lamps/disks, crew, buffer beam pipes etc; the list goes on...

Mark should be arriving about 9am and we'll load up and head down to have a ride on the WSR. Will have a good go at finding a pub tonight and then it's the show tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing it all together and seeing Mark's clay wagons.

The completed fascia looks great, really frames it nicely and draws the eye into the layout!

Also, top marks for the road colouring - looks great!

What a great day out. Tiring, but a very friendly little show.

The layout worked well and even the servos behaved all day. I tried Simon's suggestion of plugging it in separately after everything else was switched on and settled. Very pleased not to see the red error led on the controller board.

Seeing it all together and standing back to look at it in an exhibition context, rather than a workshop at home, was a smashing experience. This is my first ever solo project that's been exhibited, everything else has been a group project.

That said I couldn't have done it without the moral support and actual assistance of folk on here and RMweb. The backscene, clay wagon fleet, signal box windows and even a special 3d print of signal box chimney have all been the work of others.

A big thank you goes to Mark who was my co-operator and joined me for the weekend - he's done a great job on the clay wagons so far and certainly rescued me in that respect. You do however have to keep an eye on him as diesels, Railfrieght vans and other dodgy happenings seem to occur...
