Count me in for the WS Mask for the MMP 08 - I shall also need a gearbox (not sure which one the kit is designed for - I think that there were two, perhaps David P. knows....)
There is an ABC Gears product designed for the MMP 08... Peter has bought one for his model.

regards, Graham

Guys,

The website has now been updated again, with the Downloads page now present. From here you can download the current Application Note, Planning Template and Instructions for the 13:1 gearboxes.

It may be a little slow for the next couple of minutes while the server updates, but in particular I'd very much appreciate feedback on the instructions (pdf, 1.09MB), as you may be able to tell they took a little while to do!

Oh, and all products currently listed (including the gearboxes, bearings and CV joints) are now available from stock. Let's get those locos running...!

Haven't had a chance to look yet - still packing for holidays in Sardinia - leaving tomorrow morning! How are the universal 8'6" motor bogies coming along?

Steve,

Apologies for missing your post. I've just received some components from a supplier which will allow me to finalise the design for these bogies and for a number of other bits and pieces. I guess I won't hit Telford (the parts are very, very much later than expected) but I'm now aiming for the end of the year for the bogies and the other conventional gearboxes.

Updated instructions for the 13:1 'Power' and 'Remote' gearboxes are now available from the Downloads page.

All being well, I'll have some of the gearboxes, ball drives, ball races, etc. with me at Larkrail on Saturday. I'm supposed to be doing a DCC demo, so I'll be the one who's looking like he's about to throw a PC out of the window...

Hi guys,
A 10'6" bogie, if it materialised, would be after the 8'6" version; which still only exists in my computer as I'm still wrestling with how to make it truly 'universal'. If you want something that isn't currently 'vapourware', you might look at the PRMRP bogie kits. I hasten to add that I haven't actually got hold of one to try fitting my drive yet, but a quick trial against my Dad's models of 10000/10001 made it look highly likely it'll fit.
I'm not at all sure where I'd take a range of drive bogies to, mainly because different people want different things of them (rigid, compensated, sprung, 'proper' sprung, ease of assembly, split axles, I'm even looking at CSBs, etc) the options are almost endless. On that basis the simplicity of the PRMRP approach appeals as it can then be built up as people wish.

Rob,
I think you were looking at doing a DMU as well weren't you? I've got an idea or three, if the motor can go in the underframe. Who's bogies would you be using for the cosmetic parts?

Phill,
Roughly £40, depending on options (primarily whether you or I supply the motor/driveshaft and axles). Feel free to PM me with the sort of thing you're thinking of and I'll do what I can to help.

Steph, my Derby Lightweight is currently being detailed and painted as a medium/long-term project by one of my club members. I had mentioned to him that I ultimately want to replace the can bogie with two of your motorbogies, using my 1824 motors. If you've got anything suitable before he starts I'd be grateful.

Some simple form of axle movement is fine, but not absolutely necessary.

Hi Steph

If it helps you along, I need 2 x DMU motor bogies, I presume 8'6''. I shall be using Westdale's gubbins.

Hi Steph,

yes the DMU project will probably be one of the first to get sorted. I will be using Easybuild sideframes etc.:)

Rightio! All being well, I'll drop some ideas into this thread early next week...

Just as a quick 'straw poll', who wants drive self-contained in a bogie and who's going for the (prototypical!) layout with the motor mounted in the underframe?
