The panes are held in with "window rubbers" - an extruded rubber strip that is the very devil to install.

They follow the body profile i.e. curved and there is no 'eyebrow' towards the side as on the original where the flat window is raked back.

Those windows and the window surrounds are flush with the side / front of the body.

I think 056 was the last to retain curved windscreens and the only one to receive NSE colours with curved screens.

I always remember them like this. One of my photos taken at Berkhamsted in the early 80s.

056 has two windscreen wipers. All others I've seen have had the Fireman's windscreen wiper removed.

Well done Mickoo it was unique in the fact in was repainted into NSE livery BEFORE being refurbished the only one to be dealt with this way. The driver who sent me the picture stated that the following week it was withdrawn and rebuilt into a refurbished example. He added that this photo is the only known shot of this unit in this livery with the wrap round windows.
