Website reloaded with all new titles as of this morning, more Woodland Scenics, all new Lightmoors, new Wild Swans, there's a surprise (to me) new book from Ian Allan on the Std 5 locos which will go on to website tomorrow. A box with the new Middleton's has just arrived and Wild Swan re-stocks too so it's now back to checking in stock.

I got stuff....

Oh and I've got my christmas tree erected in its bracket outside above the shop door and the coloured lights are suitably draped and illuminated, ho ho ho

Sorted by first letter of Foreword or opening paragraph :))

Er, mainly size for the moment  The railway stuff is currently semi sorted in terms of prototype or modelling, but thats about it. The car stuff is sorted into type (Hot Rod, Lotus 7, Porsche, Engineering etc) and I'm filling in the gaps with the other stuff :D The big job today is to get the books into the bookcases (only just enough room, more car stuff than I thought) - I'll do a proper sorting job over Christmas.
All the of the MRJ's and Society mags / newsletters are ordered chronologically but thats easy as they are all numbered and are the same size.

'Time for tea' in the Titfield tradition ;)

My son once kindly sorted out the CD's alphabetically for me when he was younger, trouble was we ended up with a massive 'T' section...The Doors, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles etc :))

Apologies, can't resist this.

I have got in stock the new Bachmann 7F in Prussian Blue and it is a thing of beauty.

3 delivered, 1 already sold and being packed, 1 reserved and 1 available - it's almost as if I'm running a real business:))

I must say I'm very impressed with Bachmann, I am a tiny account by any standards but having got my order in early they have done exactly as they promised and I appear to have received my stock at the same time if not before other much bigger accounts.

For what it's worth my price for it is £145.00

Also on the modelling front I have today taken delivery of the new Ratio GWR brick built signalbox kit at £22.00 and the new Parkside PS111 ex MR brake van in 7mm scale at £39.00.

We also passed another milestone today with the largest number of deliveries ever received in one day, including my biggest ever single delivery from Wild Swan which ran to four boxes worth. I am cardboard rich.

In the popularity stakes I'd say the new Locomotive Modelling book is current favourite, followed by Peter Kazer's Narrow Gauge Adventure and there is also a very strong showing for Gordon Gravett's two tree modelling books.

It is fair to say that the whole thing is keeping me busy:eek:

I received from Simon today the Ian Allan book on the BR STD5's, well worth the money and a right good read, there is still time to be able to order yourself one before Christmas, Simon's reindeers are ready and waiting, cheers Rob

The nice Richard Chapman from Bachmann allowed me to have a play with an unpowered pre-production version at Hartlepool last July...:)

I actually think that this kit is one of the most significant model railway products for some time - a long-overdue easy-to-build plastic kit of a very common GWR prototype (Type 7, hipped roof). I can see lots of kit bashing coming on in the future. Building a gable-ended Type 5 also ought to be pretty straightforward, using this kit as a basis. As a generic 'GWR signal box kit', this type was far more common than the McKenzie & Holland 'Highley' kit that Ratio have been selling for many years.

Which book is this please, the only two I can think of are the Irwell press 'Book of' series and OPC 'Power of' series, didn't know there was another Std 5 book around, though the OPC does also cover the Std 4 as well which I'm not overly enthused about.

Addendum, google was my friend :) Question, are there any decent drawings in there and photos of construction, especially main frames etc., in which case it'll go in the Xmas stocking later today.

Searched the book shop, can't find a copy to order?.

Hi Mickoo, There are what would be termed "general arrangement" drawings in there and a small smattering of pictures of partially stripped engines, either overhaul or in one case in the scrap yard. Not sure there is anything to help regarding frames etc. I have the two books you mention which although packed with information i find them both a bit "dry". This books forte is the number of colour photographs, mainly period although there are a few preservation shots. The book is British Railways Standard Class 5 by David Clarke. Simon had not updated his website when i looked so i ordered and paid for it by phone, cheers Rob

For those of us thinking of some late Krimble Prezzie shopping, what are the opening hours this week?

Interesting indeed, by Bath standards the parking situation in Larkhall is ideal!!

Joking apart you will always find a space, if you can't then just double park or double yellow line it and nip into the shop and local parking intelligence will be supplied;). If looking on a map or Google wotsit then St Savious Road, Wallace Road and Holland Road may be the answer, all within a few minutues of the shop.

The main point is that there are no pesky residents parking schemes in Larkhall, so any space is fair game, unlike the rest of Bath which is mostly very tedious:(

in da shop with H&C who are behaving quite well......

Thank you Simon, what are the hours for this Friday?

The intention is to visit Lark-Shop and Midsomer Quilting on the same day. Where might you recommend for a decent, non-fast-food, lunch between Bath and Radstock?

regards, Graham

Hi Graham

The hours this Friday are 10.00am to 6.30pm

Radstock to Bath, hmm, not a lot in between really, the fish and chip shop in Peasedown is decent but I'm thinking you are after a "sitting down" type experience.

Big choice in Bath, my current favourite is Sam Wellers, trad pub in centre that does nice pub type menu, but there are loads.

In Larkhall itself we have "Goodies" deli that do nice filled baguettes and a nice cafe "Emmas" on the corner oposite the pub, which doesn't do food itself, but one just up the road does. There's also a new French "tea house" type place I haven't tried, oh and "Billy Burger", and an indian and a chinese takeaway.

Hell it's cosmopolitan round here:))
