Steve, I like your SPV, looks like you've done some extra detailing to update to the later version.

How easy was that? Did you do anything to the ends of the wagon too?

Hi Phil,

Not done anything to the ends. The strips on the top are strips of plasticard. ;)

Ive also won another fish van (Built) off ebay, which will be done as a RTC departmental van (ref Flickr, D8521, @ RTC Derby - Brush Veteran)

Steve, I like the way you've added angle to the sides and moved the little notice board. I was going to do that but was concerned I'd make a mess of it.

What you have done looks good. I'm about to order some more Parkside so I think think I'll get some more of these and see what I can do.

Did you manage to find any more pictures of the departmental van that you are doing?

The departmental (fish) van has been sprayed blue, just waiting to print & apply the transfers for it, then it should be finished.

The 2 x express parcel vans have now been finished. Pics to follow shortly.

I also have another fish / express parcel van won off eBay, ive just started to assembly. I havnt decided what to do with this one yet. :)

When did they stop getting used for fish traffic Steve ? :)

Depends where you're interested in. A few (very few) of the late design BR vans (not the one that Parkside do) lasted on traffic from Wick 'til c.1981, and I think the famed Aberdeen traffic to and from Kings X lasted til the mid '70s. Fish traffic in general had been in rapid decline since the mid '60s, and the Rail Blue SPVs date from around 1968/69, which was about the time that BR realised they had rather a lot of fairly modern vans fitted with roller bearings, that they really ought to find a use for:)
