I've been outside enjoying the good weather, but gt the odd hour here and there. The Thompson underframes progress, the brakeshaft between the V hangers is too weedy and I need to add a few cables etc. I'm not sure th e51 footers had visible vacuum tanks. I'm about to attach the bogie sideframes now I've worked out where they go, there are different combinations of steps, it's nice to have them as part of the casting and not to have to make them all up.
My method of springing the buffers is to mount a piece of 0.8mm N/S wire in some tube soldered to the underside of the floor. The outer ends pass through lateral hole drillen in the buffer shanks. They seem to work ok.
