Many designs to think of, but the one that potentially could be a good diesel depot is the one done on my friend's layout Airthrey Park, Hornby even asked permission to copy it for their Skaledale range.
Works well as it has windows in the side. Other options are Inverness TMD (difficult as it is not brick) Eastfield Depot or one of the sheds at Haymarket, but the down side to these other ones are you cannot see the loco once it is inside.

Hi Phil,

the diesel shed looks really good, but you would not need the 'gusset' on the column, it would be normal to have as you have under the roof beam and bolted connection back to the column as here

I hope that this helps.

Thank Mike. You're not wrong but Westbury shed is built from prefab concrete and is constructed slightly different to a steel framed build. That's one of the reasons I thought this would be a good building to do as soon as I read Phill's suggestion.

Hi Phil,

after I made my post I started to think that you would have to do a pre-cast concrete example otherwise you would have had great difficulty producing an 'I' beam off of the laser. I'm looking forward to seeing your next progress report.

cheers

Mike
