Hi Phil.

Any more progress on the Polybulk ??;)

Rob:)

Polybulker no 1 is built and detailed but still needs painting. I'm building no 2 and 3 at the moment (in the loosest sense) so will paint all together.

I have got some comedy soldering on my workbench. I'll post up so pictures later.

A picture of the polybulkers on dinasaurmodeller's layout. The painted one is Graham's.

Comedy soldering. My feeble attempt at the MMP detailing kit for the Bachmann 08. I've run out of fibreglass cleanup tips so it will look better. Have a few more bits to do that I'll complete this weekend. Hopefully primer will be on this Sunday. :)

I am stuck! What do you have?

I have a small handful on my PC, but now that I know you need some I'll do a complete photo study next week at work like I have on the exteriors, any parts you need in close detail let me know and I will try and oblige, we always have one or two stood idle ready for use so no hassle getting photos.

.... If anyone thinks the UK scene is complex, .....
"Complex" doesn't even begin to describe it in my book..!!  :(
I used to think the old Sectorisation 'Pools' and all those codes were complex... they seem quite straightforward in comparison! I respect anyone who manages to model the up-to-date scene with any degree of accuracy.

I kinda missed out the pool generation giving up trains in the early 80's for beer and women, sadly it was total avoidance and I wish I'd kept my hand a little, still, the pool generation is still around and if you want to follow locos then you need to know it, I don't, I simply look up what I need and avoid the rest LOL. In the good old days different locos had their own class, aka 47/3, 47/7 etc, and were numbered so, today there are still variants, for class 66 Freightliner alone has at least ten pool codes which vary from Intermodal to Poland heavy haul and locos are not picked in batches.

I've no idea what pool codes exist for class 08! probably far too many for any reasoned person to remember off by heart LOL.

Personally I'm not a follower of pool codes and tend to follow locos on external visual clues, but they do form an integral part of today's scene and modelling is a loose term as I've yet to model anything except in my mind, its just data gathering, mind if you do model the current scene you have to be pretty fast as things change almost weekly.

Paul Bartletts website is a fantastic resource and i can spend many hours browsing the excellent photographs. They are a great inspiration and while browsing recently the sand wagons caught my eye and a couple of the Parkside Dundas sand wagon kits were added to my Telford shopping list. So the said Telford purchases have found their way on to my workbench today.

My chosen prototypes.

As both are vacuum braked and needed screw couplings, a rummage in my spares box produced the required bits including some alternative axle boxes.

After removing the parts from the sprue and cleaning them up, the first task is to add the couplings. Forget to do it now, and it will be a frustrating job later.

Wagon sides. The bottom pair have had the holes filled with Milliput fine as the prototype didn't have the tarpaulin hooks.

Will add more later..

Nice choice.

I like the way that you have managed to re-join the sides (in photo 4) to the sprues (in photo 6).

I cannot see any wheels in any of the photos - I thought that PD supplied 0-FS wheels with their kits, have you persuaded them to supply without wheels?

regards, Graham

Look again young one. ;)

Parkside supplied my kits with Slaters S7 wheels. The reason you don't see them is I weather the wheels in batches so they are in my wheels box.

Do Parkside charge extra for that service?

I used to build DJH kits and MG Sharp always supplied them less the wheels, at the exact cost.
