The w irons on the match wagon are heavy duty ones and so I've raided the parts box and filled them in. Ill fill with filler and file back to complete.

This wagon has cost less than a fiver so far in plastic card. :)

I'm going to spring this wagon using my method of springing. I was thinking that I'd spring the end axles only and leave the centre axle to float. It is quite a long wheel base 19' scale feet.

Any ideas on lateral movement I will need for the centre axle or do I need not worry about it? Obviously I'm thinking that I need to get this around 3' radi curves ;) On a serious note, I will want to be able to run though back to back points.

Mind the first can be negated as I liked Phils idea of just making 60' lengths (JLTRT) and storing them ready for use, I'd put them on my Bolster C but for two reasons, it's not built yet LOL and it's too short, which begs the question, what did BR use to transport 60' sections of track?
You could be JLTRT and build shorter panels... LNWR pre 1895 was 30'0", GWR was 44'6" circa 1900 and 45'0" not long after.... other railways/other lengths were available (cue a new PW resources topic).

A little update on the match wagon..

Wheels are on. I fixed the wheels one end and for the other two axles I've used some rocking compensation so will test tomorrow to see how well it negotiates curved track and points.

I'm going to use Costa coffee stirrers to represent the planks as I don't think scribing will do. image.jpg

Very nice Phil,

I cannot help but admire what you and some of the other Guys and Gals on here manage with Plasticard. I always feel disappointed with my efforts in that direction.

They look very nice indeed. That's some big equipment and engineering skills I may need to gain...

Cheers

Did you ever get your 47 sorted it seemed a shame to sell it
Not sorted yet. I've had that 47 a long time and its seen no use, but it is impossible to remove the wheels to convert them without destroying the bogies. Something will come along and I'm in no rush or need to sell it.
